On the south bank of the Boyne, lay a vast brownfield industrial wasteland that had detracted from Drogheda’s centre. In a series of acquisitions commencing in 2000, Edward assembled a site that would have a massive positive impact on the way people lived, worked and shopped in the Louth town. A shopping centre of some 200,000 square feet, incorporated the industrial remains of Drogheda’s Victorian heritage, while some 30,000 square feet of office space provided accommodation for national and international tenants. The scheme, called Scotch Hall (in recognition of those Scots engineers who had lived on the site during the construction of the nearby Boyne Viaduct).  To provide a more equitable mix for the scheme, Edward also created an one hundred roomed contemporary four star hotel, The d Hotel and some 85 apartments.
